Expectations

Our expectations and rules

Attendance and raid slots

We do not enforce a strict attendance figure, but people who have high attendance and performance will always get priority for slots. As much as we would like to “give everyone a go”, it is too difficult to try to accommodate everyone’s schedules and if you have weird attendance, we can’t give you special treatment. We will try to get everyone involved, but particularly on new content, we can’t jump through hoops to please everyone.

We won’t kick you out of the guild if you play sports on Sundays, or you’re late every second Thursday due to work, but if you do turn up late, don’t expect to replace someone in the raid. This is only fair.

Also, seniority in the guild does not automatically grant you a spot in a raid (except over trials). Don’t expect to rock up an hour late and be subbed in.

Loot

Please see the loot page for loot rules.

Improving your character

You are expected to enchant and gem into your gear within a reasonable time, with the best available enchants. “I’m going to upgrade this soon” is not acceptable. Gold is plentiful in WoW and there is no excuse for turning up without the best gems, enchants, and consumables.

A head glyph and exalted Hodir shoulder enchant is expected.

Consumables

The guild will often supply Fish Feasts and may sometimes provide consumables and repairs for raiding, but you are expected to pay your own way otherwise. Flasks/elixirs and the best food are expected for new content. As above, gold is plentiful, Northern Spices are cheap – if you’re too tight to use the best consumables, you are disrespecting the group and we don’t want to raid with you.

Trade skills

You should have two primary professions at max level.

You are not expected to min/max your professions specifically for raiding; however, having two gathering skills on your raiding character demonstrates that you care less about performance than you could.

You must have max First Aid.

Pull your weight

  • Research your class and the fights. Know your rotations and the strategies.

  • Be on time, repaired, and prepared.
  • Make your own way to the instance, don’t beg for summons. It’s annoying and lazy.
  • Run back quickly and rebuff after a wipe, DO NOT GO AFK before running back.
  • Frequent or extended AFKs, or always turning up late or leaving early will probably mean you won’t get a raid spot. We don’t like standing around waiting.
  • Listen to instructions, don’t talk over the officers/raid leaders. Know when to have a laugh and when to be serious.
  • Ask for help if you feel you are underperforming.
  • Post on the forums if you’re not going to be around.

Once again, we’ve relaxed our schedule, not our expectations. We can have fun and be relaxed but still demand high performance from raiders.

Have fun, but respect others

Have some laughs, but don’t disrespect members or others outside the guild.

We are thick-skinned and don’t mind a bit of bad language and messing around, but excessive racism and offensive behaviour will not be tolerated in guild chat, on vent, or in public.

Take pride in the guild and never give us a bad name by acting like a tool in public.

Stuff that we will never, ever tolerate

  • Stealing raid IDs

  • Ninja looting
  • Griefing
  • Bullying, teasing, harassing, or bad-mouthing other members
  • Deliberately inciting guild drama
  • Being stupid and/or offensive in public
  • Trolling the official forums and causing drama in public
  • Botting, hacking, exploiting

Expect to be demoted and possibly expelled from the guild for these. Use your brain, don’t be an idiot, don’t make the guild look bad.

The Iron-Clad “Douchebag Clause”

I don’t care how uber leet you are or how badly we are hurting for your particular class – if you act like a douchebag (inside or outside the guild), you will be kicked and banned from returning.

In every guild that I have been in, there has been some asshat who thinks he/she is god’s gift to the WoW universe, and since the guild can’t afford to lose that tank/healer/high dps player, they can do whatever they want, including acting like a tool, treating people like garbage, defying the officers, breaking the rules (and laughing about it), and generally poisoning the guild and making people hate being there.

I do not expect everyone to get along with each other, or to hold hands and be best friends. But we are all adults and should be capable of treating each other with respect and following some basic rules.

I would rather cancel raids than tolerate people who think that their skill or history with the guild gives them a free pass to act however they want, laugh at the guild values, and treat people like garbage.

Anyone fitting the description above will be summarily booted. We don’t ever want to associate with those people, as they ruin the game for everyone else. Progression is not so important to us that we would let our members endure having this kind of person in the guild.
